The ahjumma..need I say more?

So in Korea, you have a whole different type of person.. The ahjumma. Today, I went with a couple of friends from America to go eat in 역삼동 but we were easily swayed to eat at this weird Korean fusion restaurant.
The 아주마들...아줌마가 그냥 아줌마야...남자? 여자?...아니, 아줌마 그냥 아줌마야...

We weren't the only ones wrangled up.
So we ordered some type of rice dish and stirfry...it was pretty good. I was just a little surprised when I chewed on the whole octopus head!
Fun times new 강남역!

It's been awhile...

I've chosen this title to serve two purposes. Obviously, it has been quite a while since I blogged something. Since last time, I have started attending my private institution, broke my glasses(yeah that is for another post), and did a bunch of sightseeing, which brings me to reason two. In this post, I will be talking about the palaces that I have visited--창덕궁 & 경복궁. The later is one that features the 광화문. A while ago, I went with a friend that I have been meaning to get together with to hang out. I don't have a Korean phone, so sometimes it can be difficult when trying to meet up with someone.
This was before going into the palace. I forgot my discount card, but my friend is actually a Korean high school student...therefore, we got in for free!!! Oh yeah!!
My friend rocks.
Let me take you through my journey through the palace.
Korean landscaping is so pretty!
My friend told me this is the place where international affairs were carried out. We couldn't go in because it was closed, sad story.
This was pretty cool though! I think this is where the queen lived.
And this is for the king!
It was quite an experience. It makes me want to want a historical drama real bad!
Now we came. I was freaking hungry! Next we passed through the 광화문 and went through the 광화문광장 and later to 인사동, which I'll show in another post.

Now, I'll show you 창덕궁, which I think is prettier. I went on past holiday commemorating the Korean civil war. I, along with my Kmom, Ksister, and moms friend set out in the morning.
Let check out the place!
In this room, the first electric light was installed in all of the palaces in 1906.
If I translated this correctly from the tour guide, this is the only blue roof. The tiles were imported from the Middle East, so they were so expensive.
I quite enjoy the interior. I would mind living here.
I think this is where the king's other wife lived.
It was fun! Later that day, we went to this place that yeah I just don't even know. I just go where people take me.

교보서점 kyobo bookstore!!!!

Today I went out with my Korean Brotha because I wanted to go to a book store. We took the bus and traveled to Gangnam station.
Here, there are a lot of people and a lot if high buildings.
Understand the meaning of this sign? I think it means, "put it back after looking at it."
By the way, you can find a Citibank nearly anywhere in Gangnam. Taking money out of the ATM with an American card is easy.

If you have any questions or comments, please leave them at the bottom of the post. 안녕!

Man purse!! Exploring in Gangnam

Today I had to go to Yeoksam (역삼동) so that I could take a placement exam for a private language institute. I traveled there by bus by myself. It was awesome. I stopped in a convenience store and bought a bottle of water for like 60 American cents. I had to go all the way there without cell service because I am roaming in Korea. But it's okay! I can connect to the wifi. I use the Naver maps and finding my course is easy.
Yes. That is a man purse.
I did Korea "Gangnam style" today.
Ugh! This neighborhood has so many hills!
I arrived after doing a little bit of sight seeing. It was so exhausting. 나는 한국어실력을 늘어야 돼요. I need to improve my Korean skills!

Watermelon delivery?

As we were watching Korean dramas on this Saturday night, the doorbell rang. My Ksister quickly ran to the door and got a watermelon from the delivery man! It was pretty delicious. You don't see that in America.
After the drama, our mother put on the Korean home shopping network.

"I like home shopping"
It was a pretty great night. Anyway, bed! 안녕!

Korean Chinese food

After hiking all day (like for four hours) we went to 구반포 in the middle of Seoul for some Korean style Chinese food. We ordered a bunch of dishes and ate together. We had 중냉면하고 자짱면하고 짬뽕하고 I forgot was the sweet fried pork is called(if you know from the picture, please leave a comment). It was really good!
Along with the meal, the ahjusshi and I had some Chinese rice wine. They told me it was 50% alcohol! I tolerated it though. Everything was pretty good.
Now it was time to go home. We took the subway. Seoul is an awesome city!
